To Be, or Not to Be.
My Interpretation of this concept is through the inclination of a particle physicist. I believe what hamlet is saying here is quite literally: “to do, or not to do”; “to exist, or not to exist”; “one or zero”. All these phrases give meaning to the Boolean state of being; such is the purity of the universe. This is what hamlet is saying; To be, or Not to Be. Now this is not how he is however.
I would now like to make the link to partial physics. If we look at wave particle duality and the double slit experiment, we see that a particle such as an electron will act as a wave of probability until observed/disturbed. It is not in a state of passing through a single slit, rather being in between or contemplating state under wave probability mechanics. As is Helmet, between acting or not acting: Thinking. It is because of this Hamlet is “betraying” his own philosophical view on acting upon revenge saying “[t]o be, or not to be.”
